Privacy Policy

Plain-English summary Your receipts and job data live on your device and in your private iCloud account. We don't have a server that collects them, we don't sell your data, and reading receipt text happens entirely on your phone. (This summary is for convenience; the full policy below governs.)

1. Who we are

ReceiptRig ("the app," "we," "us") is developed by Chris Lee, address available on request. Contact: [email protected].

2. What this app does with your data

The app helps you photograph receipts, read their text, and organize them by job and category. Here is exactly where your data goes:

Stored on your device. Receipt photos, extracted text, amounts, merchants, jobs, categories, and notes are stored locally on your iPhone/iPad.

Stored in your private iCloud. If you are signed into iCloud and have iCloud enabled for the app, your data is backed up and synced through Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud account. We (the developer) cannot access the contents of your iCloud data. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Processed on your device. Text recognition (OCR) on your receipts is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Receipt images are not uploaded to us or any third party for processing.

3. What we do NOT do

We do not operate a server that collects or stores your receipts or job data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
We do not use your receipt data for advertising.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.

4. Information we may collect

Account / identifiers: The app uses your device and iCloud account; we do not create a separate account for you and do not receive your iCloud identity.

Diagnostics: We do not collect any analytics or usage tracking. Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash and usage statistics through standard App Store reporting if you have opted into sharing analytics with app developers in your iOS settings; this is controlled entirely by Apple and your device settings, is never linked to your identity, and never includes your receipt contents.

Purchases: Subscriptions, if offered, are handled by Apple. We receive purchase status from Apple but not your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. How your data is shared by you

When you use the export feature (CSV/PDF/email), you choose where the data goes (your bookkeeper, email, Files, etc.). Once you share it, that data is handled under the policies of whatever service or recipient you send it to.

6. Data retention & deletion

Your data remains until you delete it. You can delete individual receipts or jobs in the app, or remove all data by deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. We cannot delete your iCloud data for you because we do not have access to it.

7. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Your rights

Because we do not hold your personal data on our servers, requests to access or delete your data are fulfilled by you directly on your device and in your iCloud account. If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, contact us at [email protected].

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted in the app and on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
